Candidates nominated for 2022 local elections

Billericay and Burstead Liberal Democrats are delighted to announce our candidates for the 2022 elections to Basildon Borough Council.

Tim Nicklin for Billericay West

Laura Clark for Billericay East

Chris Daffin for Burstead

In 2021 we came very close in Billericay West to electing a Liberal Democrat Councillor onto Basildon Council with 45% of the vote.

Questions for the candidates can be emailed to [email protected].

The local party is standing candidates in 10 wards across the borough. A full list of candidates standing for Basildon Borough Council can be found online here.

Dr Tim Nicklin (Billericay West)

I’m a Chartered Engineer and work as a manager in a multinational with a local UK headquarters.  I’ve spent much of my professional life working to reduce pollution, improve air quality, and working to create a more sustainable future.

I’m married with two daughters - aged 9 and 2 - who support me campaigning from time to time.  My wife teaches in Basildon and my elder daughter attends school locally.

For the around five years I’ve been volunteering on a feeding program for the borough’s homeless and vulnerable.

Laura Clark (Billericay East)

I’ve lived in Billericay for 14 years. I work in London as an Accountant, and commute regularly (although less now than before Covid). In 2021 I was elected to be a Town Councillor, which I really enjoy. I’m passionate about improving facilities for young people in the town and have been campaigning for the replacement of the skate park for 3 years.

Chris Daffin (Burstead)

I've been a resident of Little Burstead since moving to Billericay in 2001. Living in the Green Belt has made me acutely aware of the need to retain our green spaces whilst allowing for a sensible level of development in Billericay. As well as our key manifesto pledges, as a keen cyclist I'd also be looking to improve the cycling infrastructure in our area, particularly in terms of safety.

I was a Parent Governor at Quilters Infant School for 5 years and very much enjoyed the feeling of being part of the local community.

I've worked in IT in the City of London for many years. As the director of a small company, I was first drawn to the Liberal Democrats due to their strong support for business.

Billericay and Burstead Liberal Democrats Response to Redrow Planning application Reference 19/01725/OUT

Billericay & Burstead Liberal Democrats have responded to the Redrow application focusing on key issues of transport, the environment, infrastructure and affordability.

Intro

  • Redrow Homes have submitted an outline planning application for 540 homes on the land west of Mountnessing Road and north of London Road.
  • Billericay and Burstead Liberal Democrats have made a group response to this which you can read below.
  • This communication is to share our response with you and give you some information on how to do the same if you would like to make your own response.  It would make sense that there are as many responses as possible, and it adds weight to the responses if they don’t just come from the immediate neighbours to the development site but from across the town.  Many of the concerns we have highlighted affect all of Billericay’s residents
