Michael Bukola for Thurrock
Dave is an experienced and active politician. He has been a party member for the last 20 years having joined just after the Iraq war. Dave has been a Norfolk County Councillor and is on his 2nd term serving as a District Councillor on Broadland District Council. He contested the Norwich North seat at the last General Election.
He lives in Reepham, Norfolk, with his wife and daughter. Born in Southend, his family moved to Norfolk at a young age. He regularly visits family in Corringham and Stanford Le Hope. He currently works as a Development Management Manager for one of the UKs largest Accountancy Franchises.
Dave has always worked hard for the residents he represents and focuses on taking up any and all issues and reporting back. His passionate about the environment and education. He recognises the important of safeguarding the environment. Tackling sewage discharges by water companies into our rivers, lakes and coastal areas is a key priority for him. He believes that education is the best investment we can make in our children’s potential and our country’s future.
Michael is an experienced and longstanding Liberal Democrat activist having joined the party in 2003. A former ward councillor (2010-2014) and Shadow Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Housing Management, he has experience being a local champion for residents. At the last General Election he stood for the party in South Basildon & East Thurrock.
Michael is passionate about the protection of our natural environment that has suffered under the Conservatives locally and nationally. The UK Government is failing 17 out of its 20 biodiversity targets. He is passionate about campaigning for a greener Thurrock for residents.
As a former nurse, he knows how important it is for residents in Thurrock to have access to the healthcare they need, when they need it. Access to high quality healthcare, that is free at the point of use, is important to ensure residents can live their lives to their maximum potential.His concerned about the provision of healthcare for residents in Thurrock with services struggling to meet demand. Michael reluctantly left the nursing profession to pursue a career in resilience management.
